Kennedi Carter

Photography phenom and new mom, Kennedi Carter, has a new exhibit, In Ecstasy, I Call Your Name So I Won’t Forget, at Pop Box Gallery (go see it before it ends tomorrow!). We had the best time catching up with this Dynamite Durhamite and her son, Atlas!

What superpowers did you acquire once you became a parent?

Time management. I am not as time-blind as I used to be. I read somewhere that being a parent is being the curator of somebody else’s life. So now that I’m curating for another I have no choice but to hold myself accountable.

Which of your photoshoots do you think of often and why?

Definitely my British Vogue cover (featuring Beyonce). It was an opportunity to show the world how I move as a photographer and how I approach and navigate editorial.

Last time we talked, you mentioned you’d love to photograph Cardi B. For what publication?

i-D Magazine!

If you could be in the movie, which one would it be?

Carmen Jones… Starring as Carmen! Haha.

The weirdest item by your bed?

Vibrator.
