Happy New Year! We are kicking off 2023 with the fabulous queen, Stormie Daie:

What is your New Year’s resolution?

My New Year’s resolution is Me. As I child I read this book. I selected it as my birthday gift in daycare from a pile of other books and small toys. I loved this book, it was about a sassy, sweet and fashionable pig. Peppa has nothing on this pig. I can’t recall her name, but the entire book was about her loving herself- NO MATTER WHAT! And she seemed so happy. And this year, having been booked, blessed, and busy, I want to remember to be there for myself, my health and my love.

Most memorable moment of 2022?

This would be launching my Science with Stormie classes, where I had the opportunity to teach a lesson at the Museum of Life and Science. The museum is right across the street from my mother’s home, my childhood home, and I have so many good memories of being a kid there. To put forth an initiative that embodies my love for science (as well as my penchant for drag) was a special, affirming moment for me in 2022. I am so thankful for all the people who were involved in making it happen!

Favorite book?

My favorite…lord that’s hard. I regularly read to kids, so my mind is often filled with children’s stories. How about a delightful book My Rainbow by Trinity and DeShanna Neal.

Someone you’d love to spotlight in this interview and why?

The cast of my Motherworld performance. That was a large undertaking for me this year. Both as a challenge to my abilities as an artist in a collaborative process, as well as a Black amab enby queer. It was truly an honor to be invited and share in that experience.

Your message to President Vladimir Putin and all the others, who love signing countless anti LGBTQ+ rights laws?

Until you do right by the LGBT, everything you think about is gonna crumble!
