As the world continues to witness the horrific onslaught on Gaza, we wanted to check in with Palestinian punk rocker Sijal Nasralla. Describing himself as a “hot, sad, mad, glad diaspora dad,” he is set to release new album, I Wasn’t That Thought, with his band DUNUMS on October 4th. Sijal wrote nearly all the songs from the perspective of his toddler daughter:

How are you? Are your loved ones safe?

I'm exhausted. No

Please describe parenting with one word.

Spiritual

What’s getting you through the day?

Punk music and pickle-ball

If you could change one thing about U.S. politics what would it be?

The shoe hit bush

What rabbit hole did you go down in your last phone search?

"Is Khara Orthodontics a real place"

Ultimate love anthem?

Tropical Hot Dog Night - Capt. Beefheart

Let’s make America_____.
